Snow Flake Queen

Synopsis
The Snow Flake Queen is a performance / installation project based on Hans Christian Andersen’s tale, “The Snow Queen,” wherein a devious Queen casts an evil spell on a village, which they may only be released from by spelling the word “eternity” out of ice. The installation is comprised of a collection of over a thousand one-of-a-kind hand-cut paper snowflakes made of colourful gift-wrapping paper, which are pinned to the wall. On one wall the word “eternity” is spelled out in a blizzard of flakes. The SFQ performance features me dressed in a costume fit for a “queen” where I offer to make snowflakes out of classic fairy tale book illustrations for the viewers as souvenirs of their “joyful” visit.
Materials
Gift wraping and origami paper.

Techniques
Paper cutting with scissors.
