Synopsis
The Advice Bunny performance consists of me dressed as a pink bunny offering advice and has featured many incarnations of therapy-based contexts for exchanges with the public. It explores the liminalities of animal / human, giver / taker, art / therapy, and humour / pathos and is based on research into Freudian psychology as well as popular forms of therapy, self-help culture and Oprah confessional-type media. Begun as a kiosk-based performance and developed into to a full office installation, the project also comprises over 20 drawings, hundreds of photographs of myself traveling the world over in the bunny suit (Canada, Mexico, France, United Arab Emirates) as well as a consultation website and a collection of “bunny” objects.
